The Amherst Rotary Club is hosting a community Chowder Cook-Off on Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Amherst Lions Club Hall. This fun community fundraiser will support World Polio Day, and the Rotary Foundation's ongoing efforts toward global polio eradication. Local cooks and community members have been invited to compete by preparing approximately 15 litres of their favourite chowder. Guests will purchase a $30 ticket and receive the opportunity to sample all of the chowders, and will receive a ballot to vote for their favourite. The event will combine friendly competition, great food, and community spirit while raising funds for an important global cause. The Rotary Club is also seeking local sponsors and volunteers to help with event setup, food service, ticket sales, ballot counting, cleanup and other event activities.
