Minutes of May 27, 2015 Meeting

President John announced congratulations and regrets concerning changing club memberships. 

Arlene McDonald has taken on a new role as VP and C.I.T. for a company in Mississauga.  Arlene expressed regret at having to resign from our club but made clear she intends to continue on in Rotary, perhaps with either the Guelph or Elora club as the commute to our meetings isn’t realistic. 

Cynthia Nash also tendered her resignation from the club sharing heartfelt thoughts and thanks to the club for sharing many positive experiences and expressing her desire to “keep the door open” for a possible future membership. 

Laura Power has successfully completed the Membership approval process and will be inducted on Presidents night on June 24/15.

Jerome Frieburger updated the club on Bingo experience to date; all very smooth and positive and we are, therefore, committing to renewing for another year of participation and fundraising.

Jerome also let us know that several of the VFL winners have elected to take the 80% of prize value as a travel certificate in lieu of the prize resulting in an additional $6,000 - $8,000 proceeds for the club. 

President John reminded the club of the sold out Mennonite Heritage tour and dinner next Tuesday evening; looking forward. 

President John also reminded the club that Todd Aitchison will assume his new responsibilities as Assistant District Governor for the next Rotary Year at the District Change Over.

 

Guest Howard Pell of the Rotary Club of Kitchener and District 7080 Director of Training was welcomed by President John and in turn introduced Justice S. N. Bhargava of Rotary District 3052, in India who brought greetings from Jaipur and spoke of both local and international service by clubs in District 3052.  Both Kathy Loveys and guest Doug Vincent of the Rotary Club of Woodstock/Oxford spoke of our role in International service.

 

 

The elusive black marble stayed hidden and so, the $396 pot was left un-claimed Kathy Loveys, Ed Simon and Tony Giovinazzo.

 

Guest Speaker Greg Schinkel, a professional trainer, teacher and motivational speaker was introduced by Troy Stuebing  with a nod to his 4 books on the foregoing subjects, Paul Harris Fellowship and 9 years of service with Rotary in London, Ontario. 

Greg took the club through an interactive electronic survey designed to help our future leaders shape programs to suit Club Member’s interests, the results of which will be reviewed by the Board and shared with Members at a future date.
