Rotary Club of Gander Recognizes Corporate Donors
On Dec 4 2012, the Rotary Club of Gander hosted a luncheon in recognition of a number of Gander businesses for their financial support to the redevelopment of the local municipal park.
Bruce Sparkes spoke on behalf of the Cobb's Pond Rotary Park Foundation. He welcomed representatives from the contributing businesses. He announced that the Rotary Club of Gander had now reached the half way point towards a goal of $200,000. This money has been collected through various fund raising initiatives - including 'Pennies for Pond" which has collected 40,000 pennies primarily through the efforts of students at Gander Academy, the Festival of Flight 50/50 Duck Drop Draw held in conjunction with the Central Northeast Health Foundation, the Annual Rotary Celebrity Roast, the Schriner’s 50/50 Draw at the Gander Co-Op, personal donations by citizens and club members, and most recently donations from members of Gander’s corporate community.
