NB Lung Association

On March 8th, 2010, our Guest Speaker was Rochini Kassie, of the New Brunswick Lung Association. The New Brunswick Lung Association has been around for over 100 years and deals with topics you might not even think about, such as air quality control. The better the air we breathe, the better our lungs and health.

Rochini spoke mostly about the SIMPLE driver stewardship program, where we can all make a difference by changing our driving and vehicle habits. SIMPLE stands for

–S, Speed limit ~ reduce speed.
–I, Idling ~ turn the engine off more
–M, Match the vehicle to need ~ more fuel-efficient cars.
–P, Pressure ~ check your tires regularly
–L, Leave your car at home more ~ carpooling, buses, walking, etc.
–E, Engine and vehicle maintenance ~ get regular tune-ups.
