La Colorada Interact Project
The La Colorada School Project was a huge success.
The 13 members of the Rothesay High School Interact Club along with
three advisors had a very rewarding trip to the Dominican Republic from June 29th to July 13th.
the cement foundation and footings were poured for the new school.
The students worked from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm - six days a week. There were about another 100 locals that participated in the build.
We were amazed that the school was actually completed during the two week period.
The Club Rotario Moca 2 de Mayo Inc. along with the Moca Rotaract Club were involved with the project.
The group actually raised $20,000 Cdn which covered the entire cost of the new school.
The two rooms will be called - The Rotary Room and The Rotary Interact Room.
Plaques have been ordered and will be installed in each room.
The students gave a presentation to the Saint John and Rothesay Kings Rotary Clubs on Sept 13th.
In a few weeks, they will be presenting to the Hampton Club as well as numerous other service and church groups. This certainly was an excellent project and the community support was outstanding.
