Interact Club
 
 

Under the leadership of the new Interact Club President - Alex Schaerer the new club from the Rothesay High School with 16 members were officially recognized and welcomed into the Rotary family .... the club was founded with the help of Rotarian sponsors Heinz Schaerer of the Saint John club and Grant Kimball of the Rothesay club.

In addition support from the Staff Advisor at RHS, Todd Ross and Madonna Flood has helped guide and shape the new group into a very active and dedicated group comprised mainly of grade 11 students.

They have already begun fundrasng for their major international project focus of building a school house in the Dominican Republic in a community near Puerto Vallarta, where the children today have classes conducted out of an old school bus shell. They plan to complete the construction during the first two weeks of July 2012 and in addition to the building they will be bringing the much needed school supplies with them.

The new group has been very active fundrasing and are currently completing a purple hand campaign in support of Polio Eradication, mirroring the purple pinky model.

Interact is a service group of young people ages 14 - 18, sponsored by a local Rotary Clubs and gives young people the opportunity to participate in fun, meaningful service projects while developing leadership skills and meeting new friends.

Interact is one of Rotary International's many structured programs to help clubs and districts achieve their service goals in their own communities and abroad, fostering fellowship and goodwill in the process.
