On June 26, incoming President Don LeBlanc presented President Mike with his Past President's plaque in recognition of his year as President.
At the same meeting following out going President Michael's recap of his year as President, Don LeBlanc was instaled as our new President.
Don had the following comments to make as he took over the chair:
In 1978 - 28 years ago a Rotarian invited me to join the Campbelton Rotary Club - I know that they were recruiting my Classification, a banker at that time but they really recruited the person and hopefully , ultimately a person's heart.
I have been lucky enough to serve as club secretary 5 times under 3 different past presidents here in saint John and also as President elect for 2 years with Jay and Mike.So I feel that I have a good sense of what makes a good president and a good leader, in essence a great Rotarian. All have impressed me in one way or another with their energy, their desire to make a difference.
So with no disrespect to the others, Mike Schulze has demonstrated a top caliber level of leadership, by not just saying charge but by being first into the breach. Putting his own thinking, time, talent and treasure; to quote from his own speech at Charter Night, into his efforts as Club President.
These are big shoes to fill, so I already know this and without the support of every member of this club - my skills may fall short. I am counting on all of my directors, the senior members including the happy circumstance of having our past five past presidents still as members and still very active and of course all of our newer members to make certain that our club continues its very valuable and honourable contribution to our city and community at large.
My two priorities are the TRC campaign which David & Mike will continue to chair; and more importantly, to continue on with membership development. The new board will outline it's priorities in our next club assembly.
Don thanked Mike for his contributions and presented his past presidential plaque and pin.
