Innovative Application of Remote Sensing Technology in the Management of Wildfires

Interpine Innovation have provided services throughout the forest industry since 1983, forging a reputation for providing innovation across the industry and in their own words “Shaping today’s forests with the Technology of Tomorrow”.    David Herries, Director and General Manager will be presenting on the work being done to support the forestry sector and Fire and Emergency NZ with satellite and drone technology for wildfire management.    Using some of examples from recent wildfires in NZ, David will review the advancement of technology like thermal infrared cameras flying on drones throughout the night supporting firefighters on the ground with intel.  While also accessing data from satellites that now track the fires throughout the day providing an eye in the sky for those managing incidents to make better decisions.   David is also a Deputy Fire Force controller for Fire and Emergency NZ based at Lake Okareka station, and is a member of the National Incident Response Team that is called upon to assist here and overseas in vegetation / wildfire management.
