Urban Hope Ministries

My husband George and I have always had heart in giving a helping hand to those in need around us.

Before we got married, we both enjoyed serving in other countries on short term mission teams with YWAM. My husband has served in Cuba, Miami and Haiti helping out with street outreaches there.

I myself have been in Hawaii, Malaysia,Thailand and LA California joining with ministries that give hope to those in impoverished situations.

Coming home to get married and start a family of our own here in Cambridge, we still felt the pull to serve our own community around us.

With our children still young, we decided to bring them with us in serving chilli, sandwiches, snacks, drinks, words and prayers of encouragement to those who came to receive from us in front of the Ainslie bus terminal downtown.

With our ministry increasing George and I with a wonderful team have been blessed from our faith community at the Cambridge Vineyard (which has been our family for thirty years) to operate and oversee a ministry called Urban Hope as the outreach hand of the CV.

In October 2015, we started serving hot meals in the basement of the church on Sundays and Tuesdays. Our guests from Cambridge, Kitchener and surrounding area have become a part of the CV Urban Hope family with access to hot meals, clothing, showers, laundry, haircuts, groceries and group courses. We have also had the joy to help restore families back with their children with much personal support.

Our latest outreach program has been food give aways which involves befriending the neighbours and offering food hampers and assisting with other needs.

I would deeply like to thank you for the opportunity to share about Urban Hope Ministries here at the Rotary Club.
