Announcements and Upcoming Events
Prez Jim announced his second last meeting and it will be high top tables and he is hosting his year in review - you DON'T want to miss it. It would be nice for full attendance to show Jim just how much his great leadership was appreciated by everyone in the club.
And rumour has it he may be buying drinks.....
Chris W. reminded everyone about extra spaces for our home hospitality - it was held Monday - so many of our club showed up and participated one of the best events of an International convention- Home hosting. The bus of folks came up from  TO and included many from California, and other Rotarians and spouses from Australia- one of which has been a Rotarian for over 50 years ! Very happy to part of the Rotary group of "lovelies" at the event-thanks Dave M. Everyone had a great time and the organizing committee did a spectacular job- gifts and HOMEmade goodies-awesome job - Chris, Karen, Mike, Wally, Marcia, Linda and the all others involved. Gary Dyke brought greetings from the city and Helen Jowett brought greetings from the region.  President Jim and Lorne Wallace volunteered boat rides and made sure the sun was shinning.  Just a reminder if you would like to join many of us going to 2019 International Convention in Germany next year you can register for a $100 cheaper before tomorrow. Google Hamburg Rotary international Convention for more details.
Chad - Vocational Director and update - Chad mentioned that Camp Enterprise - a rotary event held in conjunction with other clubs in the area for local high school students held at the University of Waterloo - visited the permiter institute -overnighter and was a great success this year although a few less students than last year RYLA - Rotary Youth leadership Award - a leadership experience organized by district (held different areas around the district) we send one student a year - four day event. Al Gmelin award used to be a very strong member of our club - his funds continue to support two students at Connestoga College ECE program.  Vocational awards chosen in conjunction with guidance counsellors at our local schools to deserving students based on both academic and program criteria.
BEST BITES - JAZZY BLUES - AMAZING ENTERTAiNMENT - Please start selling tickets - we really need to get this event sold out!!

Program
Noah very fitting to be introducing Tom Everett as the club speaker - both Accountants - both having their own unique sense of humour.........
My apologies for the delay in the Bulletin and also that my memory is not as good as it once was when I became a Bulletin Editor.
Tom was a past Rotarian of the Cambridge North Club and Sunrise club (finally find the best one to join), grew up in Hamilton - Dundas area and had two brothers. His Father at  age 90 still is very active and golfs or bikes three four times a week.
Good genes so Tom is great with numbers, is the treasurer for an investment club and will likely have to do some of his planning out to age 95 if he follows in his Father's footsteps.
Tom was an athlete most of his life - whether it was Basketball, Football, or Baseball - he was awarded Scholarships and was scouted by the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Expo's at age 16!
He has been inducted to his schools Hall of Fame.
In 1977 Tom graduated from the Ivey School of Business, became a Chartered Accountant Member and in 1979 met Cathy - have been married for 40 years -have two children (son and daughter)Tom and Corey, and a beautiful grandson-Curtis with another grandchild on they way- and a grand-dog.
Both kids didn't quite follow in Tom's footsteps - they had taken their masters and are both working in museums - one as a curator of Science and Tech museum in Ottawa - Tom and Corey had taken her masters in New Zealand in Archiving.
Tom had a very diverse work life - whether it was CA, CEO or CFO retail, manufacturing small and large corporations and not for profit . Much of his work with Ford afforded quite a bit of travel - their entire family is very well travelled and the passion for travel still exists in retirement.
Cathy also retired from teaching. Both Cathy and Tom remain very active in the community, Tom plays bridge, treasurer of an investment club, member of Probus, bikes, skies,  golfs - loves to curl.  Tom reminded us all how time flies, and how fortunate we are living in Canada.  We are very fortunate that Tom finally joined the best club in Cambridge -thanks for a great introduction to you and your family!
