Chris Wood and Dr. Murray Pearson were here to talk about their 28 day and a 1000 nights Scotland curling tour. This a home hosted tour where you stay in Rotarion homes for the duration of your trip. You stay with a different family every 2 days and curl every day. This started in the 50's . Since the 60's it has been every other year. After or before curling they saw a lot of distilleries.. There were lots of planning meetings before they went. Every one had a job. Chris was in charge of uniforms. Curling outfits. ,formal wear and semi formal wear. Dr. Murray was in charge of entertainment. Other jobs were making up teams, treasurer, keeping track of equipment. In Scotland they have curling rinks and each rink could be made up of many clubs. .I don't know Scotland very well but they got a tour of Glascow, Perthshire Inverness, Aberdeen,, Dundas and Angus., St Andrews, Edinburgh,,,Dumfries, Hamilton, They did attend a rugby game with 67000 fans. At one spot they were introduced to 4 Glens Attended a Robbie Burns dinner. They also saw some place where Robbie Burns drink and wrote AND FATHERED A CHILD ( NOT NECESSARILY IN THAT ORDER) I also learned of a new custom called Stacking the broom. Play is stopped after 4 ends and the brooms are stacked. The losing team encourages the winning team to drink scotch so they can catch up. . Stories were told that you could be fined for wearing, not wearing a scarf, losing a scarf, for getting your panties. Funds were raised and donated to a good cause. Tentatively The Scots are coming November 6 -27 with a stop over in Cambridge November 15 16. Home hosters and curlers will be needed. Jim Johnston was the first thanker and noted how many days and nights were filled with something happening with scotch. Paul Mc. brought back memories of his Robbie Burns days and haggis.
