Dr. Bruce Clemens has been a member of the Rotary Club of Lake Atitlan (RoCLA), Guatemala, since 2016. He sponsored three completed global grants and two district grants. He chairs RoCLA’s Membership Committee. He is a member of Rotary’s WASH Cadre and the working group on global grant proposal revisions. He brings Rotarians and students to Guatemala to study Agua del Pueblo and RoCLA annually.

Bruce has more than 50 years of experience in water supply, sanitation, and community development. That is, he’s "as old as dirt", he says. 😎 He has a BS in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Cornell; a Masters (MPA) in Economic Development from Harvard; and a PhD in Business from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. He has published more than 50 peer-reviewed articles, several on water supply and sanitation.

Bruce is a co-founder of Agua del Pueblo (AdP), a non-profit technical assistance organization in Guatemala. AdP has helped more than 1,000 communities and their 500,000 inhabitants complete water supply and sanitation projects. Bruce retired from academia after teaching at James Madison, Western New England, and Furman Universities. Before academia, Bruce worked for USEPA, Bechtel Environmental, and the National Academy of Sciences.

He is coming to share his experiences with their ongoing and past water and sanitation global grant projects. Here’s a bit more information about his latest trip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yc63WSnuT0g.
