October 24th is World Polio Day. When Rotary and its partners launched the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in 1988, there were 350,000 cases of polio in 125 countries every year. We’ve made great progress against the disease. Today, polio cases are in just two countries: Afghanistan and Pakistan. When Polio is still present in our world, this paralyzing disease could return to polio-free countries, putting children everywhere at risk.

We remain committed to the end and our club has a goal of reaching $2000 this year to help fight the erradication efforts. We didn't have Riverfest fencing or our Beer Tasting event to help with our fundraising efforts but Halloween Palooza to End Polio is here!

The La Crescent Area Event Center, along with the Rotary Club of La Crosse-After Hours and La Crescent Rotary will host an array of even more food trucks and caterers on October 24th, World Polio Day.

There will be a Halloween costume contest for children AND for adults with cash prizes for winners! Keep the kids busy with pumpkin painting a balloon artist and of course there will be vendors selling masks in case you want to stock up.
Money raised will go to Rotary International's Polio Plus fund. Donations are encouraged as there is no entry fee!
A handful of volunteers are needed to help with the event. We really appreciate if anyone is able to help out.
  • 10am-12pm: 2-4 volunteers for a few table set ups, directing vendors, setting up red tape and guiding guests
  • 12-2pm: 2-4 volunteers to guide traffic, wipe tables between use, empty garbages and help with activities
  • 2-4pm: 2-4 volunteers to guide traffic, wipe tables between use, empty garbages and help with activities
  • 4p-6p: 2-4 volunteers to transition the final event and then tear down the table set ups
The More the Merrier!

Please remember that staying apart means staying united. We will once again have mask mandated zones. Stay physically distanced and use hand sanitizer! BYO: Halloween costume, mask, lawn chair and/or blanket and maybe a sweater! Although Halloween costumes are not mandatory they are encouraged!
