Plastics to Benches - Collection Day November 23rd
As recently announced to us by the GRR Club, they have launched a new initiative - Plastics to Benches. They areare collecting #2 and #4 plastic waste. So instead of the waste going in a landfill, they are sending it to Trex, a company that uses the raw material to make the decking and outdoor furniture that looks like wood but is plastic. When they collect and send 500 pounds of plastic, a bench is earned. GRR members will be at our meeting on November 23rd to collect any plastics our club members would like to donate to this project. Please visit their website to learn more about this project and the types of plastics that they are looking for HERE. Please bring along with you to our meeting on the 23rd or reach out to Patricia McCleese directly at patricia.mccleese@gmail.com

Ethics Workshop Coming In November
The Rochester Rotary Clubs will host the 4th Rotary Ethics Workshop, November 16, at Cascade Meadows located near Lourdes High School. Thank you to Joanne and Kim from our club who have volunteered their time to serve as table monitors. Seven Rochester public and private high schools have been invited to participate in this day-long event where we will share the four-way test and how it can be applied as they make decisions at school, work, and throughout their life. We are fortunate to have Jason Skirry, a professor with the School of Ethics at St. Thomas University, as our keynote speaker and facilitator for the morning. He developed an ethics day program for two Rotary Clubs. He will share his knowledge on applying ethics in everyday life using a variety of interactive strategies including games and leading them through a few case studies. We will also have a panel discussion with local Rochester professionals that will share ethical dilemmas they’ve encountered in their line of work. If you might be interested in being on this panel, let your club representative know. To close out the workshop, the students will meet by schools to develop a plan of how they can use what was learned. As those plans develop in the weeks following the November 16th session, we will review the plans and provide monetary awards to help the students put their plans into action to help foster a stronger ethical environment at their high school.
Giving Tuesday - November 30
This global day of giving is an opportunity for all Rotary members to make a big impact with a gift of any size to our Annual Fund-SHARE. Last year, we raised more than US$800,000 — and we’re asking you to help us raise even more this year! The Foundation will again recognize the top three clubs in fundraising, donor participation, and online giving.
Joanne Rosener, our club's Meals on Wheels Coordinator, has done an amazing job organizing our first year's involvement in this important and much needed community service. We will continue this service in 2021-22 thanks to those who have volunteered to deliver. If you'd like more information or would be willing to volunteer on a substitute basis, contact Joanneatjoanne.rosener@gmail.com.
