Help out with our youth exchange students by contributing to their USA Journey now through March 1.

We're seeking financial help for our two exchange students, Raphael and Arantza. Each year the exchange students have an opportunity to take an East Coast Trip with the other exchange students in our district. This trip provides the students with a unique once in a lifetime trip to see America beyond the tourist attractions.

In past years, the club has been able to substantially offset the cost of this trip for our students through the exchange student budget excess, but with two students, there is no excess.  This year, the board has determined that the unused STRIVE scholarship funds could be used to help support the trip, but again, for two, that amount does not meet the need.

Therefore, I am asking if each club member could help by making a contribution of $30 to reduce the full cost of the trip for both students. The students will still be expected to pay for a portion of the trip, but your contributions along with club funds will go a long way in making the cost of this trip within reach for both of them.

To contribute:
Checks can be made to the Rotary Club of River Falls, and in the notes section, write “East Coast Trip”
If mailing the contribution, the address is P.O. Box 311, River Falls, WI 54022

Thanks to the club members who have already contributed!

Bowls for Hope is March 5!

Bowls for Hope event proceeds help a worthy nonprofit organization make a difference in the St. Croix Valley.

At the event in March, for an entrance fee of $25/adult and $5/children age 12 and under, participants may select and keep a bowl created in glass/ceramic/pottery classes at UWRF, River Falls High School, Meyer Middle School, the Renaissance Academy, or by area artists.

Attendees may also sample, at no extra charge, soups donated and served by area restaurants. Participants have the opportunity to vote for their favorite soup and a Chefs’ Choice Award will be awarded to the soup favored by the chefs participating in the event.

Since 2010, Bowls for Hope has raised more than $52,500 for local charitable organizations.
