WORLD UNDERSTANDING AND PEACE DAY

I am excited to share with you the coming of an incredible Peace Gala with music, art and incredible speakers on Thursday February 23, 2023 at 7:00 p.m. ET, where you will hear Nobel Prize 2018 Winner Ouided Bouchamaoui who will join us all the way from Tunis, different entities that Rotary International is collaborating with to promote peace such as Mediators Beyond Borders International (MBBI), Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), Rotary Inter-Country Committees (Rotary-ICC) and hear from the Chairman of the ICC Executive Council Mohamed Ghammam regarding ICC signing a MOU with Mediators Beyond Borders International and learn about how Rotary is collaborating with these different entities to extend peace and understanding around the world.
We will then move from The Rotary International world to learn how YOU as Rotarians are partnering in promoting peace in Canada, and finally zooming in on how we are promoting it in our District and locally. In addition, with great entertainment with some live music and art which advocating for peace.
Hence, you will learn about our 4 ROLES (PeMa) as Rotarians in promoting peace (PeMa… yes you guessed it right) and how we have been and will continue to strive to achieve.
As you probably know this day February 23, 2023 is a very special day for us Rotarians as it is the first meeting of Rotary which was held by Gustavus Loehr, Silvester Schiele, Hiram E. Shorey, Paul P. Harris on February 23, 1905 and now is designated as World Understanding and Peace Day. What a better day to enjoy our Peace Gala.
This is an occasion to reflect on what are the 4 pillars of peace which we apply and why we as Rotarians offer an olive leaf to all.
