
YOUTH POWER. Paarl is buzzing with new energy as a dynamic group of young change-makers launches the Rotaract Club of Paarl, a youth-led service club affiliated with the well-established Rotary Club of Paarl. At the helm is Michelle Jacobs (centre), a Grade 12 learner from Labori High School, whose vision and leadership have ignited a fresh movement of community-driven action. Jacobs serves as the founding president, supported by fellow board members Byron Klinker (right), secretary, and Taz-Lynn Samuels (Treasurer), both equally passionate about service above self and local development. BIG SMILES. A total of 38 learners of Charleston Hill Primary received spectacles through the intercession of the Rotary Club of Paarl, as state funds are limited. With some of the learners are Rotarians Alan Richards and Pietie van Aarde. A total of 684 learners at three schools were screened, and 110 pairs of spectacles provided to assist with vision problems.

ROTARY EXCHANGE. Jolina Ziegler of Germany, a short-term Rotary exchange student (second left), recently spent six weeks in South Africa. With her are (centre), Pierre Botha (Rotary president) and (from left) her hosts Kim, Isabella and Anthony Benvenuto. Isabella will visit Jolina for six weeks in December and January.

There was great excitement at Langabuya Primary when the mayor opened their new multi-purpose sports field. Paarl Rotary contributed R15 000 to the costs of the new facility.

Students who attended the Rotary Youth Leader Adventure Camp near Franschhoek had to brave the cold water of a mountain stream to practise teamwork.
