Nearly a ton of refuse was removed from the banks of the Berg River on World Clean-up Day, in co-operation with the Drakenstein Municipality. Rotary was represented by Clift College Interact Club, Charleston Hill Interact Club, and the Mbeko Eco Club.
The enthusiastic Interactors of Charleston Hill Secondary made a big difference to World Clean-up Day by collecting refuse along the Berg River.

SUPPORT. Following a devastating shack fire in Klapmuts, the Rotary clubs of Paarl and Stellenbosch donated much needed clothing, including school uniforms, to learners of Klapmuts Secondary. FOOD. Supporters of the Mbeko Eco Club teamed up on Mandela Day to prepare food for Langabuya Primary learners in Mbekweni. The products were obtained from their own food garden at the school.
ADVENTURE. Five Paarl learners enjoyed the exciting Adventure into Citizenship youth week in Cape Town, sponsored by Paarl Rotary. Among the places they visited were the provincial parliament, the Science Centre, the High Court, museums and universities. The excellent u.17 netball team of Desmond Tutu High School fared well in the national schools competition held in Gauteng. Their accommodation was sponsored by Paarl Rotary.
The illegal trade in indigenous plants was the topic of an outing to Paarl Mountain attended by Interactors and Mbeko Eco Club, arranged by Paarl Rotary.
