VISITORS. Two short term Rotary exchange students from Europe recently visited Paarl.

At the rear are Rotarians Hester Visagie and Rudy Dupont (president of the club). The Paarl students will pay return visits to Bordeaux and Vienna respectively in December.
The service club Early Act, sponsored by Paarl Rotary, was recently launched at the Clift College primary school. In front from left are Sian Patrick (mentor teacher), Rudy Dupont (Rotary president) and Helen de Jager (head of the primary school). Behind them are the leaders of the Early Act Club: Julianna van Zyl (secretary), Cia Siconolfi (president), Lara Myatt (vice-president) and Pieter Schoeman (treasurer). This is the second Early Act Club sponsored by Paarl Rotary.
Four local students were sponsored by Paarl Rotary to attend the Adventure into Citizenship Week in Cape Town over the school holiday. Among the places they visited were the Cape High Court, the Science Centre, the District Six Museum, the Simonstown Museum and the Heart Museum. Members of the Rotary Club of Paarl helped to harvest vegetables in the food garden of the Mbeko Eco Club at Langabuya Primary School in Mbekweni on Mandela Day, to celebrate the success of this new garden. Everybody, from visitors to learners to teachers, lent a hand to prepare a hearty vegetable soup for the school's 1 500 learners, and used the opportunity to plant three indigenous trees to commemorate the occasion. The Mbeko Eco Club focuses on connecting learners to soil and biodiversity, to demonstrate the relationship between water conservation and food security.
Paarl Rotary made the day of these youngsters at Club 21 for Downs when they received a bag of educational toys. With them is teacher Elize Greyling.
