SUCCESS. The Winelands Rotary charity wine auction was once again a great success. Celebrating are (from left) auctioneer Dan Nicholl with actress Dorette Potgieter, one of the guests, and Pierre Botha, Paarl Rotary president.

The Paarl Rotary event, held at Laborie wine farm, attracted 160 guests on a beautiful spring day. They were welcomed with bubbly and a tasty luncheon. Auctioneer Dan Nicholl’s witticisms had everyone chuckling and drove up the prices successfully.
Rotarians spent many months gathering all the excellent wines on the auction, as well as hospitality items such as hotel stays and meals at top restaurants. Paintings from a number of artists were also exhibited on the silent auction, including works from students of the Jack Meyer Art School.
Accordion player Stanislav Anguelov added a special musical flavour to the midday lunch break while Interactors assisted with the dispatch of the lots after the event.
Riebeek Valley Rotary also participated and collected some excellent wines and hospitality prizes, including a trip to Mauritius.
The turnover of more than R500 000 will contribute to Rotary projects and charities supported by Paarl and Riebeek Valley Rotary.
