Our guest speaker today was Deborah Rothenberg of The Pottery House, who showed us a sample of the work that can be done there.

Deborah is the owner of this local business recently re-located to 1501 Stittsville Main.

The Pottery Playhouse is an interesting place for kids and adults to drop in and be creative by painting a variety of fun, high-quality ceramics. All of the supplies are provided. The staff gives a short lesson on how to paint the ceramics - no experience necessary. Two or 3 hours is usually allocated for this activity.
In addition they host children’s birthday parties and offer workshops for adults and childrens’ camps.

Deborah was very knowledgeable about the stoneware and earthenware types of clay and spoke about the various steps in the process of creating pieces including painting, glazing and firing in a computerized kiln.
