Rotary youth leadership programs aim to develop leadership skills, instill a lifelong commitment to service, and empower young people to make the most of their lives.

On June 13th 2023, Stittsville Rotarians learned first-hand what Rotary youth leadership camp is all about when Chloé, a Gr 9 student at Ècole secondaire catholique Paul Desmarais, was the guest speaker at their meeting. She shared her experiences from RYLA on May 26th, a weekend Rotary leadership camp for high school students. Chloé thoroughly enjoyed the “amazing” opportunity to learn about Rotary, meet new people, discover her own strengths and leadership style and participate in teams to develop personal leadership skills.
Why is the RYLA program important? An estimated 50,000 young people participate in RYLA worldwide each year. At its core, RYLA is intended to develop self-confidence and life-management skills in young people ages 14-30. RYLA programs aim to develop leadership skills, instill a lifelong commitment to service, and empower young people to make the most of their lives.
In 2023, Stittsville Rotary sponsored 2 local high school students to take part in RYLA, providing a special opportunity to develop qualities of leadership and good citizenship.
