In order to decrease transmission of COVID-19 (coronavirus) in Ottawa, Stittsville Rotarians have cancelled in-person meetings on Wednesday, March 18 and Wednesday, March 25, 2020.

The World Health Organization has set certain guidelines to deal with the current global pandemic caused by COVID-19 (coronavirus). Canadian federal, provincial and local health authorities follow these same guidelines and specifically have recommended that in-person meetings should be postponed or cancelled and instead, business should be conducted as required on-line or by phone. Social distancing to avoid crowds is also recommended with the guideline that personal contact between two people should usually be six feet apart.

Accordingly, Stittsville Rotary Club, along with other Rotary clubs around the world, are making changes to their normal in-person activities. The weekly meetings on Mar 18th and Mar 25th have been cancelled. The decision to hold meetings after that will depend on the circumstances at that time.

It is important to remember that that each individual has an important part to play in preventing the spread of this virus. Proper hygiene can help reduce the risk of infection or spreading infection to others:
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after using the     washroom and when preparing food
  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer if soap and water are not available
  • Avoid touching your face with unwashed hands.
