MINUTES FOR ROTARY MEETING OF JULY 3, 2012

ATTENDANCE

Alfredo, Barb, Brad, Carolyn, Grace, Jas, Leo, Rosemary Steve, Theresa, Wes and Val

MEETING:

This was the first meeting for our new President and Board. This was a business meeting with no speaker. The Rotary them for this year is “Peace through Service”.

Next week’s meeting is our same location and our speaker will be Jane Blackmore of Kids to Kids.

Our July 17th meeting will be a Scrumptious on Stittsville Main Street (beside the post office) usual time and cost.

Board meeting will be July 18 @ Grace’s, 7PM all members are welcome.

Membership dues are due and most everyone has paid.

Unfortunately John Thomson has decided not to renew his membership but will continue as a good Friend of Rotary.

A very amusing Chinese Auction was held. These auctions help us raise funds for the club.

BUSINESS MEETING:

Mums campaign has started – committee is Steve, Rosemary, Wes and Barb

Price is $15/plant and is one of our major fund raisers for the club.

We have 1000 order forms and hope to increase our orders to 1000 but we may be limited due to delivery issues so we are recommending until July 15 we focus on our previous customers and get a commitment from them as to how many plants they will order before we start to approach new customers.

If we can get orders that are a number to 1 location and we deliver that will help with delivery issues as well as our revenue flow.

Order forms will be available next week.

Delivery dates are Sept. 28/29 so please let us know when you would be able to deliver.

Rosemary is our new club historian.

Val’s suggestion of having a “Movie Night” fund raising opportunity has been given the go ahead for further research. Val would like to do something this coming winter. Please let Val know if you can help out.

Rotary Goal is “Every Rotarian Every Year”, we are requested to make a personal donation to Rotary and we encourage $100/year

On July 31 and follow-up on Aug. 7 our meetings will be business meetings to go over the flip charts we did a couple of weeks ago and make decisions about our focus ie local or international for 2012-13, decide on projects so that we can do budgeting etc. Carolyn will put information into an e-mail for all of us to review.

MEMBERSHIP:

Please think about bringing a potential new member to a meeting.
