Clean Up the Capital is a great opportunity for Ottawa residents to clean up their neighborhoods.
They do it every year! Stittsville Rotarians volunteered to clean up in WJ Bell Rotary Peace Park and surroundings streets on April 30, 2024 as part of Ottawa’s Cleaning the Capital campaign. A clean-up on the shoreline of Poole Creek was also included as what happens on shorelines affects the quality of the water and the life it supports. Preserving the environment is one of seven areas of focus for Rotary Clubs everywhere.
This city-wide cleanup occurs in the spring and fall of every year and residents come together as a community and combine efforts to make Ottawa clean and green. The results are amazing. City statistics show that, since 1994, nearly 1.5 million volunteers have participated in nearly 30,000 cleanup projects throughout the city. As a result, over 1,000,000 kilograms of waste has been removed from our public spaces.
