Barabara Bottriell of the Goulborn Historical Society spoke to us about life in Richmond in the early 19th century.

For her in-costume presentation to the club, Barb assumed the character of Maria Hill, an innkeeper who lived in Richmond in 1819. By describing the events in Maria’s life, Barb gave a history of the settlement and development of Richmond, ON. Since it was a military settlement in early days, there are many records available for study by historians.

2018 marks the 200th anniversary of Richmond and everyone is invited to the celebrations in the community from June 15 to 17.

The Goulbourn Township Historical Society is a community group dedicated to the history of the former Goulbourn Township, now amalgamated into the City of Ottawa.
