Stittsville Rotary’s Auction was fun and the funds were donated to Rotary’s PolioPlus.
Going once! Going twice! Sold! It was a great social event for Stittsville Rotarians, family and friends and the fun, friendly auction on October 22, 2024 produced $500 for donation to Rotary’s PolioPlus Foundation. Many of the 46,000 Rotary clubs around the world are having such fundraiser events in the month of October in a joint effort to end polio.
Statistics show that polio mainly affects children under age 5 and while there is no cure, polio is preventable with a vaccine. The eradication of polio is one of Rotary’s longest standing and most significant efforts and along with partners, Rotary has helped immunize more than 2.5 billion children against polio in 122 countries. The number of cases world-wide have been reduced by 99.9% since 1988 and now only Afghanistan and Pakistan report cases of the wild polio virus.
The average cost to fully protect a child against polio is just $3. Your donation helps Rotary and its partners reach every child with the polio vaccine. Thanks to the Bill Gates Foundation, your contribution will be tripled. Together, we end polio.
