New opportunities for members to enhance skills, broaden networks and increase positive impact in communities.

Susan Dalati is a 22-year veteran of Toastmasters and a new member of the Rotary Club of West Ottawa. She was well-qualified to speak to Stittsville Rotary on March 31, 2021 about the new partnership announced in 2020 between the Rotary and Toastmasters organizations.
Both are non-profit organizations with a similar structure of clubs in countries around the world.
Where Toastmasters (Where Leaders are Made) has an educational focus on improving the communication and leadership skills of its 353,000 members, 1.2M Rotarians (Service Above Self) focus on making a difference in their communities and helping others
Susan pointed out that through this new collaboration, members of Toastmasters and Rotary will enhance their skills, broaden their networks and increase their positive impact in communities. The ongoing relationship between the two organizations will begin at the grassroots level with local club members learning and working together. As well, Toastmasters will create a set of eight structured communication and leadership development courses for Rotary.
Specifically, the partnership with Toastmasters will provide Rotarians with even more opportunities to develop and improve their leadership and communication skills and in turn, members of Toastmasters can connect with more people, take advantage of new speaking and learning opportunities and make a difference in their communities through Rotary.
Susan encouraged Stittsville Rotarians to take the first steps in collaboration by contacting the local Toastmasters Club, visiting their meetings, and inviting a TM speaker to Rotary meetings. The 2 clubs have the same meeting times.
