Creativity, organization and wise use of a member’s skills led to a unique social event for the club.
Stittsville Rotarians enjoyed on Wednesday, December 16th, a Christmas social that was like no other. Phil Bronthser, fellow club member and professional chef, was front and center as he chose the menu: Mexican Fiesta Omelet & Breakfast Potatoes. For their part, members prepared ahead of time a prep list of required ingredients. Then using Zoom technology, Chef Phil was able to direct the preparation and cooking, while members followed along in their home kitchens.
The result? “Amazing, mouth-watering, colorful, festive dish” were among the comments of members after tasting the meal they had prepared. See photo of finished product above. Other photos can be found in the photo album on this home page of the club website.
To add to the festivities, members sang Christmas carols, played a Christmas trivia quiz and watched a presentation of childhood photos of the members. It was a fun and entertaining evening where everyone participated and learned something new.
On the following day, the club collected food items donated by the members for delivery to the Stittsville Food Bank along with a financial donation by the club. It was a great way for the club members to end 2020 together and still contribute to the community.
