BlazeAid
With the devastating Grampians fires burning in the heart of our Rotary District, the District 9780 leadership put out the call for clubs to chip in to support BlazeAid as they work tirelessly to provide assistance and support to local farmers and property owners.
In recent years we have had BlazeAid camps closer to Ballarat and have been able to provide evening meals for the volunteers. The Willaura Base Camp is too far for us to take a hot meal, so we decided to donate $1000 to the District funds for BlazeAid.
So far Rotary Clubs from our District and beyond have combined to donate $35,000 to this very worthwhile cause. This will allow the camp organisers to use the funds to buy foodstuffs and prepare the meals required.
With more recent outbreaks, it seems like the BlazeAid volunteers will be needed for a long time.
