Eatup Goes International!
On 10th April Robyn and Deb attended a fabulous Eatup sandwich making session at Ballarat Grammar.
Eatup Founder Lyndon Galea was there, with two other Eatup staff, Alex and Ben and together we facilitated a session for 160 participants who made 2082 cheese sandwiches in 20 minutes!
The International part is that the participants - school students from years 8, 9, 10 and 11 and accompanying staff represented schools from all states of Australia and overseas.
This session was during the school holidays, so the sandwiches were stored frozen at Grammar and a team of volunteers delivered them to 36 local schools when school resumed.
Photos above show the table set up ready for the sandwich-making, Lyndon and Ben explaining the history of Eatup and the sandwich-making process, plus some of our volunteer delivery team with Grammar staff member, Rob Gray who assisted with access to the freezer and transporting the sandwiches to our cars - Thanks Rob! The final photo shows the last 60 sandwiches being delivered - to Alfredton Primary School.
Thanks so much to the team at Ballarat Grammar - Jill Coote, Sophie Cotton for the idea of this mammoth event, Gayan Gunasekara for access to the freezer, Eatup Staff, Lyndon, Ben and Alex for travelling from Melbourne and bringing most of the ingredients, all of the students and staff who made it happen on the day, and finally to our Alfredton members and friends for coordinating the whole event and for volunteering to ensure that it was all possible.

Festival of Art 2026
Thanks to all who participated. assisted, exhibited, attended, supported and in any way helped us to have a very successful Festival.
The variety and array of artwork was amazing, our hands-on experiences and opening night were warmly welcomed and well attended and the Primary School Art Competition provided a colourful display. Not to mention our fantastic set up and pack up crews! All aspects contributed to a fabulous event.
Thank you all.

School Planting Project
Our members have been having a ball helping local School children to beautify their schoolgrounds with the plants we have provided through our school tree project. Thanks to a grant from Acciona Waubra Wind Farm we were able to purchase two thousand seven hundred seedlings - a mixture of grasses, ground covers, flowers, shrubs and trees, indigenous to our area and distribute them to Lucas, Sienna, Pleasant St, Wendouree, St Mary's, Our Lady Help of Christians and Newington Primary Schools and Yuille Campus Flexible Learning Centre.

Painting the Children's Outpatients Clinic, Port Vila Hospital
A group of Alfredton Rotary members, family and friends (including Michael from RC Ballarat South) headed to Vanuatu to paint the Children's Outpatients clinic. On arrival they saw a brightly coloured mural that was unfortunately the worse for wear and a jaw-dropping array of bright colours throughout the hallway and examination rooms. Thanks to generous donations of equipment from Express Paint Rollers Australia, paint from Dulux and the expertise of Gary Sinclair, they were equipped for the task!
From then on, a little skill and a lot of enthusiasm, cooperation and hard work got the job done.
It was lovely to welcome some Ni-Vanuatu volunteers and Port Vila RC members who helped with the project.
A happy coincidence meant that the darker blue we were expecting turned out to be a very purply blue, or bluey purple - so we spread our signature Alfie purple far and wide!
Thank you to all members of the team, especially Jill for coordinating the project and reluctantly 'herding cats' as needed to get everyone where they needed to be at the right time.
This sort of hands-on project, with a great group of volunteers from various communities working together, is the very epitome of Alfredton Rotary and Rotary in general.
Let us know if you'd like to get involved.
