Congratulations Jill Oliver OAM

Huge congratulations to our wonderful, hard-working and inspirational President Jill Oliver, for receiving very well-deserved recognition recently. 

Whether it's arranging logistics for a Pacific Islands child to receive medical care, wielding a paintbrush, cooking up a storm, lugging donated furniture and medical equipment into a truck, quiet philanthropy, stepping up to lead or just making volunteering fun, Jill's commitment to making a difference in other people's lives is outstanding and ongoing.

Science and Engineering Challenges Galore

We recently combined with Ballarat West & Wendouree Breakfast Rotarians to organise the Ballarat Regional Science & Engineering Challenge Day.

Student from seven schools puzzled, designed, crafted and trialed solutions to a range of STEM challenges. Volunteers ran activities provided by the University of Newcastle and the event was hosted by Federation University.

Congratulations to all of the students who participated and thank you to our amazing sponsors:

Service Stream, Nicholson Construction, Rotary Op Shop, The Canberra Hotel, Plinius Engineering, Central Highlands Water, Integra, McCain, Wendouree Breakfast Rotary, Bartlett Manufacturing and Gestalt Engineering.

All of our volunteers had a great time seeing the students tackle each challenge with enthusiasm and persistence.

A warm Alfie welcome to our newest member, Gayle Flockhart.

Gail has been a lifetime resident of Ballarat and runs her own ironing and laundry business, Pressing Matters. She has already been involved in a number of club projects and events and we look forward to spending time with her.

Mothers Day High Tea Success

This is the view that greeted guests as they arrived to partake in our fabulous Mothers' Day High Tea.
Delicious food elegantly displayed in the beautiful surroundings of the Canberra Hotel, Ballarat.
Huge thanks to Malcolm for hosting the event and all who provided food or assistance to ensure our wonderful guests had the best afternoon.
Funds raised will be used to support our service projects.

Eatup Goes International!

On 10th April Robyn and Deb attended a fabulous Eatup sandwich making session at Ballarat Grammar.
Eatup Founder Lyndon Galea was there, with two other Eatup staff, Alex and Ben and together we facilitated a session for 160 participants who made 2082 cheese sandwiches in 20 minutes!
The International part is that the participants - school students from years 8, 9, 10 and 11 and accompanying staff represented schools from all states of Australia and overseas.

Festival of Art 2026

Thanks to all who participated. assisted, exhibited, attended, supported and in any way helped us to have a very successful Festival.
The variety and array of artwork was amazing, our hands-on experiences and opening night were warmly welcomed and well attended and the Primary School Art Competition provided a colourful display. Not to mention our fantastic set up and pack up crews! All aspects contributed to a fabulous event.

School Planting Project

Our members have been having a ball helping local School children to beautify their schoolgrounds with the plants we have provided through our school tree project. Thanks to a grant from Acciona Waubra Wind Farm we were able to purchase two thousand seven hundred seedlings - a mixture of grasses, ground covers, flowers, shrubs and trees, indigenous to our area and distribute them to Lucas, Sienna, Pleasant St, Wendouree, St Mary's, Our Lady Help of Christians and Newington Primary Schools and Yuille Campus Flexible Learning Centre.

Painting the Children's Outpatients Clinic, Port Vila Hospital

A group of Alfredton Rotary members, family and friends (including Michael from RC Ballarat South) headed to Vanuatu to paint the Children's Outpatients clinic. On arrival they saw a brightly coloured mural that was unfortunately the worse for wear and a jaw-dropping array of bright colours throughout the hallway and examination rooms. Thanks to generous donations of equipment from Express Paint Rollers Australia, paint from Dulux and the expertise of Gary Sinclair, they were equipped for the task!
From then on, a little skill and a lot of enthusiasm, cooperation and hard work got the job done.
It was lovely to welcome some Ni-Vanuatu volunteers and Port Vila RC members who helped with the project.
