We also will be accepting monetary donations as well for our Annual Easter Meal Program.
Our goal is to provide 20-30 families with full Easter meals this year!
We are thrilled to introduce four new members into our club: Dan & Suzie Block of DCB Auto Parts, David Marriot of Munich ReInsurance American, and Mukesh Rao of Pick It Plus. You are beginning a great adventure in leadership, in friendship, in service to your community and your fellow man. We look forward to see how you can help our club succeed in bringing service to others.
We would like to thank Mike Duffey of Rise Against Hunger who came to speak at our club last month. Rise Against Hunger is international organization driven by the vision of a world without hunger. Their mission is to end hunger in our lifetime by providing food and life-changing aid to the world’s most vulnerable and creating a global commitment to mobilize the necessary resources. We look forward to working with this great organization to help our local and global community. To learn more about visit,
Rotary club was proud to sponsor the Barnegat High School Interact's lip sync battle this past Wednesday! Abigail Kladivko, our president elect, had a fantastic time as one of the guest judges for the event. Our newest member, Suzie Block, was nice enough to prepare the prizes we provided for the winners. What a fun night of music and laughs!
Last week a couple of members attended the Barnegat Township Meeting to officially present the Barnegat Police Department with the $3000 of grant money to purchase Narcan doses for all the police officers to have on hand while they are on duty.
Ocean County has consistently been one of the areas of the state hardest hit by the scourge of opioid addiction and overdose deaths. In 2016, the county had the second-largest raw total and rate of overdose deaths of any county in the state. With the introduction of Narcan, the number of overdoses actually dropped this year but we still have a lot of work to do as a county to fight this issue.
We hope that this contribution will help our local law enforcement combat this major problem we have. We would also like to congratulate police officers that were newly inducted as well the two officers who promoted to Sargeant. Congratulations!
Last week Ariane Yazdan from CASA of Ocean County came by to tell us about her organization and how we could participate. Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Ocean County, an independent non-profit, has served as a voice in the courtroom for abused and neglected foster children since 2006.
They recruit and train concerned citizens to serve as a CASA volunteer. By meeting with the child’s family members, doctors, teachers, and foster parents, the CASA volunteer ensures that the judge in the family court system is aware of all the facts to make the best determination for the child’s future. CASA currently represents around 100-200 children within the foster care system in Ocean County but they are always looking for more volunteers. To learn more visit
Barnegat Board of Education honored our club this past Tuesday for our contributions to the children in need in the Barnegat School District. This is in part from our Santa Run and our annual Elf Program.
Last week we had Larry from Coastal Volunteers in Medicine come in and discuss what their organization is and how they benefit the community. Coastal VIM provides primary healthcare and mental health services to people who cannot afford health insurance but do not qualify for federal assistance.
