Members Minutes

Roger Shelden  -  Rotary Club of Adelaide - Presidents Weekend Goolwa

On the weekend Friday 16 November to Sunday 18th November the Adelaide Rotary Club will be visiting Goolwa. This is a tradition in their club where they have a weekend away visiting country towns and clubs.

They like to get the local club involved. Their program has been broadly mapped out with some members playing Golf on Friday, Spirit of Coorong Adventure Cruise on the Saturday and various individual choice options on the Sunday with 4WD to the Murray Mouth, Guided Historical Walk around Goolwa, Goolwa Wharf Markets etc.

We have been asked to provide catering for the Fri night bowls. Karen & Max have kindly agreed to manage the kitchen/cooking with other assistance required to help with setting up, serving, cleaning up dishes etc. We think 5 other members would suffice.

All members will be invited with a cost of $20 covering food and participation in bowls if they wish. It would be great to get a few teams of 4 – no experience required – it is a fun social night.

The format will be 6pm - 1hr bowls, 1hr Dinner & Guest Speaker (Alan Jones), another hour of bowls. Conclude 9pm.

The bowling club will have the bar open and staffed.

The Saturday night will be Adelaide Rotary Dinner meeting at Fleurieu’s. 6.30 for 7pm. This will be a normal Rotary night including a 2 course meal. Cost TBA but looking like $40 - $45 p/h.  They have arranged Georgina Downer as guest speaker.  We and friends are all invited.

Karen Mitchell -  At the next Club meeting I will be circulating a list asking for donations of food for the Open Garden. Once again we will need a list of ingredients. If you are good at preparing food which is gluten free/vegan/nut free/dairy free etc this would be most helpful as more and more people are sensitive to certain things.

The yellow ball remained elusive once again and Di won heads and tails.

As we did not have a speaker three subjects were put into a draw with blanks and Karen , Sandy and Andy were those who drew them , to speak for five minutes each.  ( My first car, my first day at school and my most embarrassing moment respectively).   Subsequently, a little extra was added by Jim and Di.

Meeting closed closed at 8.30pm.
