Meeting Opening
Greg Casson called on Jim to give the invocation and loyal toast.
He then called on Vice President Alan Williams who welcomed Rotarians including a special welcome to visitors to our club Andy Wood, guest speaker Andrew Donald, and honorary members Tony Lucas & Alan Jones.
Vice President Alan's Messages
Board Members Nanette Davis & Michelle Lehou have resigned from the board due to ill health. Their duties have been taken over Wendy Lippett (Youth) & Roger Shelden (Treasurer).
The Open Garden is scheduled for 3rd November & plans are well in hand.
Members Minutes
Karen Mitchell - President Di and I attended Eastern Fleurieu School with the environmental display. The entire school of 600 students participated and it was a very rewarding day. We have also attended Port Elliot School who had the display for several days and have asked us to bring it back. We were also invited to attend Sustainable Spring which is a Council initiative. At the conclusion of the keynote speaker, there was an informal Q & A with attendees visiting the displays and a number of interesting and intelligent questions were asked. Our display and presentation is being very well received and the feedback has all been positive.
Jim Davis - A reminder to all Rotarians about the upcoming District 9520 Conference scheduled for 5-7th April, 2019 in Broken Hill. It would be great to have a good representation from our club.
On Thursday the container is being moved & am looking for hands-on help with the move (particularly men). (And no sooner said than done......!)
The Storage Container, club trailer & BBQ trailer all have a new home at Coorong Quays. With the kind support of Coorong Quays management, a move was undertaken from the previous storage yard to the Maintenance yard. Janet Tapping introduced our guest speaker Andrew Donald. Andrew shared his experience whilst working as a chef in Antartica with a slideshow & videos showing the marvelous landscape & wildlife. He also spoke of the enduring effects of the extreme weather conditions, their means of transport & the various other roles he was involved in. He is looking forward to getting the opportunity to do this again as it was such an amazing experience...!
A raffle draw resulted in Janet Tapping being unable to draw out the yellow ball this time.
Heads & Tails won the prize for Brian Buscombe.
Alan closed the meeting at 8.35 pm with this closing thought -
"The clock of life is wound but once. And no man has the power to tell just when the hands will stop. At late or early hour. Now is the only time you own. Live, love, toil with a will. Place no faith in time, for the clock may soon be still."
