On October 3, 2012 we met for Breakfast and Lunch and after anthems and grace we ate!

Today was our Trip of the Month Draw date so the Lunch Meeting hosted the draw but we still had a Breakfast Meeting.  Next year the draws will alternate between breakfast and lunch and we will continue to have a breakfast and lunch meeting on those days.

The meeting agenda also included a Club Assembly on some items from the previous nights Board Meeting which was held on October 2, 2012.

Bruce Cook and Rod Stone from the Downtown Club graced us with their presence for lunch – it is always good to see them and to add to our Lunch fund!

There were no Exchange Students in attendance – we miss them when they are not there but there were events going on at school – hope to see them next week.

Happy Birthday to You! And Maybe an Anniversary!

Bruce Dewhirst – October 1

Dave Seabrook – October 2 and Dave snuck in a Wedding Anniversary on the 1st!

Rotary Anniversary

Norm Lyons - October 5th– thank you for being a member of the Club for 35 years!  Wow!

The Donation Draw balance is $149.00 and the King of Clubs was not found again!

It was President Neil’s turn to speak!

After interviews six potential Youth Exchange applicants will be going to Tustan – congratulations in your first step!

Board Meeting discussions included:

  1. District PR Grant has been approved – Yeah!  This will allow for a joint membership drive with the Downtown Club.
  2. Interact is on hold until the Teacher situation is resolved with regards to extracurricular activities as we will require a liason with the school.
  3. Our plan is to have the accounts put into Simply Accounting so that the board can have an ongoing balance of the club’s funds and to share with members. This will also take some stress off of our Treasurer.
  4. We will be purchasing a wreath for Remembrance Day again this year at a cost if $50.00.
  5. Mary Lynn Riberdy has been granted a 3 month leave of absence until January 2, 2012 due to work commitments.
  6. The Chamber of Commerce membership will be renewed for another year.  Board members felt it was money well spent.
  7. A donation of $400.00 was approved to sponsor a Team for the 2012-2013 season with Soo Pee Wee Hockey.  The cheque will be written off of the Service Account.
  8. A Director has been put in charge of each Committee and meeting dates for the Committees have been set for the year.  Please be sure that when you do meet that you take minutes and submit them to the Rotary Office.  This will allow for better transition of Committee Chairs each year.

We also discussed purchasing cartons of salad dressing to support Thirsting to Serve.

October is Vocational Service Month so if you have a story to tell of something you have done let us know.  Bragging rights are wanted!
