Donna outlined the definition and world demographic of the child soldier, focussing on the vulnerability components of children in numerous world conflict areas; including even the sanctioned use of young men by the Brits in WW1.

She used the Uganda experience as a classic example of the horrors involved; starting with strong men presidents for life like Oboti and leading up to the vile regime of Joseph Kony of the Lord's Resistance Army. The details are most certainly chilling, and a reminder of the huge challenges in many of these countries cited.

An opportunity arises: former child soldier, now reformed as a musician, actor, peace activist ( and speaker), Emmanuel Jal, will be featured November 1 at the Valhalla Inn (www.hopeforallkids.ca) or call Donna at 620-0269.
This fundraiser is a unique happening and all are invited.

Donna is pictured (L centre) along with Rod Morrison, who introduced her (far L) as well as Past-president Brenda Winter and President Warren Philp.

The presentation was indeed a very sobering eye opener. Thanks for coming Donna.
