1920 - 2000

The Rotary Club of Moose Jaw sponsored the Weyburn Club, giving oversight to the official inaugural meeting held February 18, 1920 when 21 charter members were approved and officers were elected, the first President being Charles Raven. The Charter #662 was dated April 1, 1920.

In the early history, annual minstrel shows completely operated by Rotarians (singers and musicians) under the direction of Rotarian Alex Findlay, were a great hit.

In 1923, the Weyburn Club sponsored the Estevan Club, being inaugurated March 6, 1923.
|
|

|
In the 1940s, organizing Victory Loan Campaigns and raising relief money for China and Great Britain.
|
|
*
|
1944 was the first Rotary Ice Carnival, becoming an annual event for the next 36 years.
|
|
*
|
The only District Governor from this Club was Royden Schultz, 1959/60.
|
|
*
|
1962 - the Club became the Sole Patron of the Weyburn Music Festival, annually paying their deficit.
|
|
*
|
1963 - Rotarian Alex Findlay dies, he had been pianist of the Club for 43 years. Our piano scholarship to the Music Festival is named in memory of Alex.

|
1975 the Club develops relationship with Saskatchewan Lotteries and continues to receive funds from them for local distribution.

|

|
1975 - hosted first Rotary Exchange Student
; to date, 17 in-bound, 16 out-bound.

December 28, 1977 - the last Charter member, George McCuaig, dies at 97.
|
|

|
1978 - Club purchases first Care-A-Van - $15,719.86.
|
|
*
|
1980 - built a garage for the Care-A-Van
|
|
*
|
1985 - Club Spirit Annual Academic Scholarship of $150.00 presented.

|

|
February 9, 1989 - Club approved that females be allowed membership in the Rotary Club of Weyburn. Bev Hansen and Connie Regier joined that fall.

|
1989 - became "lead partner" in the Forestation/Wildlife Habitat in Tatagwa Parkway (3 years of planning, 3 years of development, 4 years of adding to our investment) totalling $67,900.00.

|

|
January, 1990 - started to deliver Meals on Wheels
|
|
*
|
1991 - the first annual Polkafest was held (the first Saturday of June).
