Want to expand your cruising grounds and get a little farther from your home port?

The 2024 Summer Cruise to the San Juan Islands will be hosted by Bill Zehner and his wife Jaci.

For those of you who have not spent much time in the San Juan Islands this is a good chance to be out with some other boats. The Cruise locations will be anchoring locations.

This is a no cost cruise and, other than great company, don’t count on anything being provided. That said, Bill can be very helpful getting into the anchorage and getting set up, so do reach out to Bill if you need a hand with something. Some of you may only wish to drop in for a day or two and spend your other time docked at one of the many marinas in the area; that is perfectly fine. A typical day might include some exploring in your dinghy, local parks or a nearby marina, crabbing or other activities. Usually in the evenings we gather on a boat or two for happy hour and some good conversation. Most of this is worked on the day of with the help of texting and the radio.

If you are interested in going on this Cruise, email FleetCaptain@poulsboyc.org.

I will add your name to a shared spreadsheet where you can enter your summer float plan.

Also, for those of you who can’t make these dates but would still like to share and see others' float plans, email me and I will share the spreadsheet with you too.

Cruise Dates: July 8th to July 12th.

Cruise Locations: Blind Bay, Parks Bay, Stuart Island or Garrison (be sure and keep up to date-on specific locations/dates by accessing the shared spread sheet).

Planning Details:

Meeting Saturday, February 2nd at 10:00am - A combined working meeting for both this summer cruise and for any others that want to work on planning for summer voyages.  February 2nd is also the Cruise to Nowhere so you could on a nowhere cruise planning a cruise to somewhere.  We will discuss possible routes to the San Juans, and the locations we will be staying. We also remind everyone to check tides, current and weather for the trip; favorite ways to do this will also be discussed at the meeting. If you are thinking about a small trip or two in advance check out the recently added page "Cruising - Short and Near" under On the Water for nearer and shorter cruises and connect with some club members.

Anchoring - Anchoring is another skill that you will need for this trip; and don’t forget your cruising guide.
