La Jolla Sunrise Rotary Club meets every Thursday morning at 6:58 am at the La Jolla Shores Hotel.  We have a "social hour" from 6:58 until about 7:25 am when a delicious breakfast is served buffet style. The formal meeting starts at 7:30 am with an invocation and pledge to the flag, introductions of visiting Rotarians and guests, plus announcements and reports, etc.  At approximately 7:50 am, a guest speaker is introduced who presents a program. The meeting ends by 8:30 am.

La Jolla Sunrise Rotary calls itself "small but mighty."  The relatively small size of the Club fosters camaraderie among its members.  But, our size doesn't stop us from immersing ourselves in the Rotary tradition of "service above self." We're involved in many local, district and international activities.   La Jolla Sunrise Rotary has at least 8 projects/program/events going each year through the Rotary Avenues of Service - Club Service, Vocational Service, Community Service and International Service.

In 2013, for example, we raised almost $30,000 for the non-profit Angel Faces at the beautiful and inspiring Angel Faces Gala, plus $10,000 for polio eradication at the Global Swimarathon (matched 2-for-1 by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation). Additional funds were raised for Angel Faces and for our Gift of Life Program through the Rotary International Grants Program;  We sponsor MicroCredit programs internationally. Annually, we are hosts for the semi-finals of the 4-Way Speech Contest. We provide Christmas gifts to the teens at San Pasqual Academy. and we are engaged in a "work day" at San Pasqual Academy every April.

But we have fun too. "Club Service" in Rotary encourages a "spirit of fellowship." We have an annual Christmas Party, a demotion (for the President) party and several impromptu small social events throughout the year.
