American Red Cross of San Diego and Imperial Counties

Sean Mahoney is the Regional CEO for the American Red Cross of San Diego and Imperial Counties. Prior to leading the regional Red Cross, he served as the Executive Director of zero8hundred, a non-profit that assists service members as they transition to civilian life.
Mahoney retired as a Captain after 27 years in the Coast Guard in 2014. His service included shipboard experience and assignments piloting helicopters in Massachusetts, Oregon, California, and as an exchange officer to the Canadian Forces. His tours included assignment as the Commanding Officer of Air Station Houston, Director of External Affairs for the Coast Guard’s Atlantic Area, and Director of Incident Management for the Mid-Atlantic region. Mahoney’s final USCG assignment was as Captain of the Port and Commander of Coast Guard Sector San Diego. Mahoney is a 1987 graduate of the US Coast Guard Academy.
