What Makes Our Club Unique?
"We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give." - Winston Churchill

Hi, we're the San Diego Coastal Rotary Club, a group of fun loving & hard working San Diegans on a mission to make the world a better place. We got tired of watching the endless barrage of tragedy and sadness on every news station and instead, decided to get out there and do something about it! If you've ever felt like your life has a higher purpose than just paying bills and worrying about yourself- then chances are the San Diego Coastal Rotary Club is
the right place for you.

What makes us different?

There are over 35,000 Rotary clubs throughout the world, and over 64 in San Diego County alone. Of the 1.2 million members worldwide, the average age of these Rotarians is 62, and only 22% are women. Our club, however, has an average age of 37 and is over 50% women. This, coupled with our evening happy hour meeting time and our tendency to do hands-on service projects and wacky fundraisers (beer & paint night, anymore?), makes us the perfect fit for today's working professional or busy parent.

What do we do?

We meet weekly as a way to build relationships, network, and exchange ideas. Some weeks we have a formal presentation from a local community or nonprofit leader. Other weeks we'll go out into the community and volunteer - anything from sorting food at Feeding America, playing floor volleyball with Challenged Athletes, walking dogs at a local animal shelter, and much more. We also occasionally host fundraisers as a way to raise money to support our volunteer efforts, and they are always a LOT of fun! Some of our past fundraisers include stand up paddle boarding, pub crawls, indoor rock climbing, Casino nights, and even a 5k.

International Service
We also offer 2-3 international service trips per year to members who wish to incorporate voluntourism to their travel plans. Most often our trips are Saturday - Sunday in Mexico, building a loft home, volunteering at an orphanage, etc. We spend Saturday working, enjoy a lovely dinner, stay the night in a nice resort, and plan some fun activities for Sunday before heading home. Then, every few years  we'll plan a longer international service trip in more distant parts of the world, anywhere from 7-10 days doing amazing things like building schools, constructing community kitchens, preserving wildlife, etc. While these trips are totally voluntary, they are a wonderful way to give back and bond with fellow club members.

Lifelong Friendships

Often times, it can be difficult to make new meaningful friendships as a busy adult. Luckily, whether you're in our club for just a few months or many years, you're sure to make lifelong friends who share the same drive and sense of purpose as you. The relatively small size of our group makes it easy for everyone to know each other and connect on a deeper level - a real Rotary family!
