2016 Apr 30 | Rotarians at Work Day
We joined the Encinitas and Del Mar Rotarians as well as the Keystone Club (the teen leadership club at the Boys & Girls Club of San Dieguito) for a day of gardening and connecting with underserved youth in our community. There were multiple breakout teams on various projects including gardening, washing vegetables, and cleaning and restoring the ceramics studio.
The Boys & Girls Club’s Center for a Healthy Lifestyle includes a half acre garden attached to the Clubhouse, where Club kids from the community learn what goes into the soil, goes into our food, goes into our bodies, and can make us healthy people. We helped this social justice cause by helping harvest, weed, and plant, while learning a little horticulture and working alongside a teen who could use the leadership skills, team building, and mentorship.
