Each year the Peace Forum highlights the creation and advancing of peace. In the Forum partners D5340 and the Kroc School of Peace Studies each share their work with the other, highlighting new developments and best practices useful to participants in their practices of peacemaking and peacebuilding.
The 8th Annual Rotary District 5340 / Kroc School of Peace Studies Peace Forum convenes on Saturday, February 23 in the Kroc Institute for Peace & Justice Theater at the University of San Diego. This year's Forum theme is Human Trafficking, and will include:
- An Update on the Kroc School of Peace Studies activities from Dean Patricia Marquez,
- An Overview of Human Trafficking in San Diego,
- Exploration of the Institute for the Study of Global Slavery,
- Free to Thrive: A Call to Action from Jamie Quient, President and Managing Attorney, Free to Thrive,
- A Rotary and Grillo-Marxuach Scholar's Perspective on Human Rights, and
- the Presentation of the prestigious District Pathways to Peace Peacemaker of the Year Award.
A continental breakfast and fellowship begin at 8:00 am; the program begins at 8:30 am sharp and concludes at 12 noon. Rotarians, Rotaractors, Interactors, their guests and the general public are all welcome to attend.
