Janice H Kurth, MD, PhD

District 5340

District 5340 Governor 2015-2016

Janice is a member of the Rotary Club of Del Mar.  She has served District 5340 in many roles over the last 15 years and sponsored several Global Grants.  She was a Group Study Exchange Leader in 2010, District Governor in 2015-2016 and District Rotary Foundation Chair 2016-2019.  She is currently the District 5340 Global Grants and serves on the Rotary International Health Major Gifts Initiatives Committee 2018-2023.  Janice and her husband Matt are members of the Paul Harris Society, the Bequest Society and the Arch Klumph Society of The Rotary Foundation. Her other service activities include student mentoring, serving on the Boards of The San Diego Women’s Foundation, Girl Scouts San Diego and Mira Costa Community College Foundation.

Janice earned her B.A. in chemistry from Austin College, Ph.D. in human genetics from Stanford University, and M.D. from University of Arizona, with post-graduate training in internal medicine.  Her professional career has included medical practice, academic and industrial biomedical research, product and software development, research management and pharmaceutical medicine.  She is now retired to a busy life of service to her community, family and Rotary.

In her free time, Janice enjoys traveling, reading, hiking, biking, weight lifting, and wine tasting.  She has been married to her husband Matt for 34 years, who will be his Rotary Club president in 2022-2023.  They have two daughters, ages 30 and 32 one of which is the Immediate Past President of her Rotary Club and now an Assistant Governor in Austin, Texas, and two sons-in-laws.
