New Jersey's "Beach Sweep", an initiative of Clean Ocean Action, began in 1985 with just 75 volunteers at one site.  Since then it's grown immensely.  Last April over five thousand volunteers swept our beaches to rid them of unsighly and harmful debris.

For 2017, our Beach Sweep day as Sandy Hook (Beach D) is Saturday, April 22 form 9am until 12:30pm.  Gerry Harris, of the Berkeley Heights Rotary Club has been involved in Beach Sweep for over a dozen years, along with our club-sponsored Interact service club of over 100 student members from Governor Livingston High School.
