Representatives from the Lee College Educational Opportunity Center were guest speakers at the June 8 meeting of the Baytown Kiwanis Club. Director Dr. James Todd, pictured above, reviewed the center's purposes and activities, explaining the mission of the center is to serve those looking to better themselves through post-secondary education. He reported that 67% of clients at the center must qualify as low income (less than $34,000 income per year) and first generation college student (no family members who have attained a Bachelor's degree). Also presenting was Vicki Haberman, one of three education specialists employed by the center. She walked membership through the steps she takes in assisting prospective students meet entrance requirements and gain financial aide in order to attend LC.
