Sophomore of the Year Scholarship Winner

Tori Gonzalez, left, a current junior at Goose Memorial HS is presented a plaque and scholarship voucher for $600 from Kiwanis secretary Al Richard at the November 17 club meeting. Tori's mother Brandy Gonzalez looks on as the Baytown club congratulated Tori on being named a 2016 Sophomore of the Year in the Texas-Oklahoma District. Tori was one of 20 sophomores chosen in a two-state competition to receive the SOTY honor. Tori won the award after placing first in local Kiwanis competition and first in Division competition during the spring of sophomore year. Her essay was then submitted to District competition where she was named one of 20 winners from the two-state Texas-Oklahoma District at the District convention in August.
