When November program chairperson Chad Merling had his November 17 speaker from the American Cancer Society postpone at the last minute, he turned to his father Rick to fill in for the missing speaker. Rick followed the theme of the program by presenting an overview of the Baytown Relay for Life, for which he serves as one of the tri-chairpersons. Rick, himself a cancer survivor, gave a brief history of the annual event that to date has raised over $1,000,000 and stands as one of the leading Relays in the country. Asked which Relay was his most memorable, Rick spoke of the 2014 Relay that raised over $750,000. Thank you, Rick, for bailing out your son and providing an informative program today!
