The Kiwanis Club and Rotary Club are holding their second annual Lee College fundraiser Wednesday night during halftime of the Lee College basketball game against Trinity Valley at 7 p.m.

"It's more of a friendly competition between the two clubs than a fundraiser, Kiwanis president Chad Merling said. "It is just something we do that helps draw attention to Lee College and their athletics."

Merling said the two clubs also do a golf tournament in the spring that helps benefit the YMCA.

"Both of the clubs coincide a little bit and tend to have the same type of members and each do the same type of things," Merling said. "And just a lot of the members know each other and enjoy the friendly competition that comes out of the fundraisers."

Shooting for the Kiwanis on Wednesday are Merling, Al Richard, Jim Wadzinski, Ryan Hightower and Dave Jirrels.

"We won last year and it was pretty bad so I'm sure they have had a lot of practice and are ready to pay us back," Merling said.
