Kiwanis Learns About Diamonds

Local gemologist and jeweler Paul Hargrave presented a unique program at the February 4 meeting of the Baytown Kiwanis Club. Paul, a certified diamond expert, gave the club a historical background of diamond mining and answered numerous questions from membership on the top. Interesting tidbits shared included the fact that the world's "youngest" diamond is over 1,000,000 years old and that 80% of diamonds mine in the world are used for industrial purposes while only 20% are mined for commercial use.
